Went out to the track again last Friday. After a few motor passes, best 10.33 @ 135 on a 1.54 60', the Vette went 8.94 @ 156 with a still relatively slow 1.38 60', 125 @ the 1/8. We still have a slight stumble at the crack of the throttle that's costing us .10 on the 60' and .20 @ the 1/4. We're still adjusting the big Holley 1250, 'cause it ain't "just right" yet. Traction on a 28" x 11.5" x 15" tire has amazingly NOT been a problem...yet.

Given the poor air in south Louisiana at this time of year (costing me about 60 HP, even with the aid of the 175 n20 shot helping the atmosphere), the Vette has the potential in good air to go high "8.70's" @ close to 160. Getting a 3400 "street" car (with Driver) to go 8's in the quarter is quite a challenge, believe me.

We still have NOT tried the Transbrake, and have been leaving @ 2000 off the Footbrake. With the n20 not coming on 'til 3400 rpms, we should see a .10 improvement in the 60' and a .20 improvement in the 1/4. We plan to Transbrake to 3000 RPMs, as the n20 flashes the converter like a mad dog. We'll see...

We're taking the Vette to the track again Friday night to see what gives. We've adjusted the fuel bowls in the carb to hopefully alleviate the stumble. Maybe this will get the 60' back in the 1.20's vs. recent 1.30's. If so, this should get us in unchartered waters of "8.80's" at about 157 MPH. We plan on trying the transbrake on the n20 for the first time, and this should help the 60' and et. The air is a bit better this week than in the last couple of months, so this alone should produce about another 30-40 HP.

I'll post a message with the results.

9/10 update: Track very slick, and traction was a problem.

9.07 @ 154 with 1.31 60', hitting the 8000 rpm rev limiter 1-2 & 2-3 (n2o shutting off @ 7800 TWICE).

9.00 @ 155 with 1.38 slippery 60', fish tailing all the way down the track.

My lil MY 28 x 15 ET Drags are on their last leg...gonna put on some MT 10.5W (28 x 15) next week.

Still gonna run that 8'80s very soon @ about 158.

Going back to the track this Friday night...air should be slightly better than 100 degree heat index and 85% humidity!

Got those new MT ET Drags 10.5W x 28. Hope they help.

Gonna experiment with the n20 and Fuel Jets combo to see if we see better results...first 82 Fuel & 73 N20 (175 HP shot), and then 91 Fuel & 82 N20 (224 HP shot). If the second combo hooks, AND if I make a timely shift w/o hitting the limiters (n20 @ 7800, rev @ 8000), we're gonna go some 8.80's @ about 158!
Not too shabby for a 3400 lb car with driver.

Has anyone tested the new Zex Perimeter Plate n20 system? The claim is because of the design of their spraybar (88 separate) increases atomization and power, along with the cryogenic (cooling) effect of the n20 flowing through the plate, power is superior to the standar NOS brand design. I am thinking about buying one to see if I see a noticeable increase in power...by that I mean 15-20 HP minimum gain on a 1000 crank HP baseline.

Had Fuel delivery problems with the Regulator not working properly. 4 passes from 9.40 to 9.23 & 144-149 mph...about .30 off ET and 10 MPH off norm. 60' perdy good @ 1.33...would equate to an 8.80s pass.

Will be back at it Friday, when the air should be better. Last Friday's air was not as good as expected...85 degrees and 80% humidity.

The beat goes on...

Went back to the track. Tried the 91 Fuel and 82 N20 jetting combo (225 shot), and saw some improvement, although we were having fuel delivery problems on the top end. Later fould out that the Motor side fuel filter was rusted up and clogged to the max. Easy enough to fix.

Vette went BEST 1.28 60' and BEST 8.92 60', although MPH was down to 150 from 155-156 (aforementioned fuel delivery problem).

When we go back to a sticky track, we're GONNA run some 8.80s, even if the 60' is in the 1.32-1.34 range, and not a 1.27. The MPH will be 157-158.

Hope everyone is well in Grand Sport land...

Geez... and I have yet to break into the 11's! Got this nice new 396 motor and haven't even had it to the strip yet. I really HAVE to find some free time and go do that this winter while the air is nice and cool. I need all the help I can get!
