With the summer upon us, a few folks have expressed interest in obtaining a hydraulic lift for their garage or workshop.

You may recall that last year our good friends, Al & Helen Hemstreet from Warner Robins, GA, arranged a nice discount for us in a GSR Group Purchase for his Superior Lift product. Details from that past GP are available here on the GSR Forum.

I've certainly enjoyed MY lift (as have many of my neighbors and friends  ) and can highly recommend both Al and Superior.

So... is there any interest in trying to get another GP in place? If you are seriously considering getting a lift this year, this would be an ideal opportunity.

Let me know and I'll contact Al to see what he can do for us.

I spoke with my good buddy, Al Hemstreet, last night. Al is our Superior Lifts rep who arranged the great Group Purchase deal for GSR members last year.

At any rate, he asked me to relay to everyone that he's been having some serious computer/email problems preventing him from responding to folks asking about his lifts. He is also in the process of building a new home on his lake property so he is often away. He wanted me to apologize to everyone who has had trouble reaching him lately.

He asked me to encourage anyone wanting to reach him to call him on his cell number and he will do his very best to answer your questions and arrange the best deal on whichever lift(s) you need.

Besides their best selling 4-post lift, they also have 2-post lifts available and for the first time are offering a less expensive, non-USA made, 4-post lift. Al told me has installed 2 of these recently and he was frankly surprised at their good quality. Although overall costs are going up a bit due to increased freight costs, good deals are still available. Call him if interested and he'll be very frank and honest with you, as anyone who has dealt with Al will confirm. He'll also be at Carlisle again this year.

Al's cell phone number is 478-954-9978. Give him a shout!

P.S.: No, the GSR doesn't get a "cut" on the lifts that Al sells to our members. Don't I wish! ;)

I think if I was in the market for one, I would rather have a 2 post instead of a 4, but thats just me.

Eric, you'd have to ask Al about the cost of the 2-post lifts. I think they are comparable to the 4-post units.

While the 2-post design offers some potential advantages of the 4-post, you do have to be careful. You have to make sure that the lifting arms hug the ground enough to fit under a Corvette. Not all designs do without some kind of small ramp to drive the car on before lifting. Also, especially for asymmetrical designs, the unit must be securely fastened to the floor. Most residential garage floors really aren't thick enough so you should plan on pouring concrete footers with heavy bolts to secure it. And you have to watch the garage height and depth, too. 4-post units are movable, and come with optional casters, while the 2-post jobs are intended to be permanently installed.

But call Al for more info. He's the expert!

I use a two post lift almost every day at work (EAGLE) & love it! I had the garage floor in my house being built have 6 inches of concrete (they actually put 8 inches) and 220 electicity as Eagle lifts suggested I do. I have a price on a 9000lb Eagle lift of $2900 including delivery & install! B) I will contact Al to see if he can beat the price...If he can he will get my sale! :D I might buy a 4 post for my other bay...but that will not be till the following year unless I hit lotto..lol
