Thanks for sharing this with us, Rick!

Congrats, Ed & Val Stumpff for the coverage on their new C6 "GS" wannabe. No matter how much of a purist you are, ya gotta admit this car looks VERY nice! :yesnod:

Oh, and I guess we should say congrats to Randy & Judy Flock for making yet another magazine cover with their Callaway GS #254. Of course, they've been in so many magazines it's probably getting boring by now.

Nice to see the increased coverage about the Grand Sport in so many magazines as we lead up to our 10th anniversary in 2006!

For that matter, congrats to ALL GS owners!!!

That is an awesome mag cover. Just got mine, gotta go do some reading now.

Hutch, was your C5 Z06 GS a coupe or vert? There is a coupe in this edition and on the cover which really looks like your old car. I dont remember if you had a coupe or turned it into a vert though.

Never mind, I just looked it up and it was a vert. Anyhow, congrats to all who got some coverage of your cars. That is just awesome.

If you haven't seen the December issue of Corvette Fever yet, you are in for a real treat. They should rename this issue, "GRAND SPORT Fever" due to all the GS-related articles and the great cover shot of Randy Flock's Callaway GS #254 and Andy Roderick's C5 Z06 "GS" tearing up the back roads of Kentucky.

On the inside is a great article by Alan Colvin on the history of the Grand Sport. I admit yours truly had a bit of input here and the 96 GS convert photos are of Patti's GS #707.

The issue also includes articles and full color photos on GSR Member Randy Flock's Callaway (again!), Andy Roderick's C5 "GS", and GSR Member Ed & Val Stumpf's brand new C6 "GS" coupe (courtesy of Rick 'Corvette' Conti). Yeh, we gotta work on Andy becoming a member!

Most of the gorgeous photos and cover are from my buddy Jerry Heasley and all the articles are well written, perhaps summed up best by this closing line in Alan Colvin's GS history article:

"Judging by the extreme enthusiasm for these special Corvettes demonstrated by groups such as the Grand Sport Registry, we think it's safe to say the '96 Grand Sport will stand out as a unique and rare Corvette icon in the decades to come."

Couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Congrats to those featured in the magazine and to ALL owners and enthusisasts who share in the excitement of these "Grand" Corvettes!

C'mon, Rick... when you going to bite the bullet and do a C6 "Grand Sport" Convertible based on the Z06???

Judging from the bare Z06 frame and birdcage I saw at Carlisle, it looks doable. That magnesium roof structure appears to BOLT in. In time, you know someone is going to do it.

A targa roof conversion would be even easier on the new Z06 since GM decided to cut costs and use the same targa pillar as used on the production coupe. Hmmmm..... :o
