Ready for another GSR Group Purchase opportunity? And this time, it won't cost you an arm and a leg. I promise! ;)

Greenlight Toys of Indianapolis is about to release their latest offering... a die-cast 1/24th scale 1996 Grand Sport Convertible!

They promise that the quality of this new model will "blow away" what you are used to from the likes of Maisto and others. They were so intent on getting the Admiral Blue color just right that they even enlisted the aid of GSR Members to show them their GS so they could compare the "real deal" with their paint samples. While admittedly not at the level of Franklin Mint or Danbury Mint, it doesn't cost over a hundred bucks, either.

Here's the specs:
  • 1:24 scale die cast
  • Opening doors and hood
  • Real rubber tires
  • Officially licensed by GM
  • Limited Edition of only 2000 units
  • *** Sequentially Numbered Metal Base ***
  • Retail Price: $29.99
Yours truly managed to talk them into sequentially numbering each unit from 0001 to 2000. I tried really hard to let us select specific numbers to match up with our VINs but in the end they just said it would be too time consuming. Believe me, I pushed them hard on this, even offering to double the price, but no dice. So while we will get numbered units, which number you'll get is a crapshoot.

This GSR Group Purchase (GP) is now open for GSR Members only and will run through April 28th. I must have your order and payment in hand by that date or you're out of luck.

GSR Member pricing is $25.00 per model plus shipping... $8 for 1 model, $10 for 2-3 models, $12 for 4 or more models.

This is if you are paying by CHECK. If you wish to use PayPal or CreditCard, add $1.00 extra per model ordered. Sorry, I gotta pay the cc fees myself. International orders please contact me for a shipping price quote first.

Click HERE to order ONE model via PayPal now

Click HERE to order TWO models via PayPal now

Click HERE to order THREE models via PayPal now

If you want to pay by mail, send your check payable to:

GRAND SPORT REGISTRY
13644 Crystal River Dr
Orlando, FL 32828

We have no minimum purchase, but if we pre-sell 50 or more units, we get another $4 discount off each one. So if we reach that mark, I'll issue individual refunds. So order SEVERAL! :yesnod:

Greenlight is giving us first shot at these limited editions. They won't be released to the public until after our Group Purchase is over. This GP will end on April 28th (no extensions!) and your model(s) will be drop shipped to you from the vendor shortly thereafter.

So who wants in???

Thanks, Michael

No worries, Michael. These should be cool.

But remember, I'm not taking a list of names here. The way to reserve them is to send in a check. :D

If everyone that said they wanted one follows through with their payment, we have a total of 36 of these sold so far (not counting the 12 that I plan on buying).

So with any luck, we will definitely sell more than 50 which means we'll get a rebate on the price.

This deal keeps getting better and better, don't it?

Update... 2/25/06:

Orders are going strong on these but let's add a couple more incentives...

If GSR Members buy 100 or more of these models, the GSR will donate $1.00 per model to the National Corvette Museum.

PLUS... for every model purchased, your name will be entered in a drawing for a NCM raffle ticket for a new 2007 Corvette to be given away on Labor Day weekend. Buy one model, get one chance; buy two models, get two chances, etc. The GSR will announce the winner shortly after the GP ends on April 28th.

Remember, if we buy 50 or more, you'll get a $4 rebate on each model you buy. If we buy 100 or more, you'll get a $6 rebate on each one.

It looks like we have exceeded our goal of 50+ orders for these so all GSR Members that ordered one will be getting a rebate of at LEAST $4 for each model they ordered.

I say "at least" because we may very well buy over 100 of them in which case we will qualify for an even larger discount.

At the end of the Group Purchase period (Apr 28th) the GSR will place our order with Greenlight and they will drop ship the model(s) directly to you. The GSR will then issue the appropriate rebate.

Cool beans, eh?

UPDATE!

Greenlight Toys will begin shipping our 1:24 GS convertible diecast models at the end of July or 1st week of August.

I got a pre-production piece and I was very impressed. While not of Danbury mint quality, it blows the older Maisto units away. It will be a very nice addition to anyone's collection.

Thanks for your patience but I think you'll find it was worth the wait!

I received the two that I ordered - they look very nice!

While I haven't opened the boxes yet, I can't see any serialization through the plastic window.

If you have one of these Greenlight Toys 1:24 scale Grand Sport convertible diecast models and would like to trade your serial numbered model for another, this is the place to let it be known.

Unfortunately, there are no serial numbers on the packaging. You have to open them up and look on the underside of each car. The serial numbers are printed just above the Greenlight Toys logo. Only 2000 of these models were produced.
