Looks nice, and it seems just maybe GM has been listening. Coupe and Convertible models, Z06 style body, and in 4 colors although Blue would be my choice for a GS. I would have posted the nice big picture but it belongs to a dealer and I don't want to ruffle the feathers.

Yep, not too bad at all. I'm very pleased they went with the wide body panels ala the Z06 and even added a custom air vent in the front fender. Nice to make it a tad different from the Z06. All colors will be available, too, and evidently hashmarks in 4 different color options. Note that they even kept the Grand Sport RPO code of Z16. Now let's see what the MSRP will be on this thing!

That looks like a little more like a GS that I could own. Still think I would rather have a Z06 though. :yesnod:

I don't see any resemblance to a Grand Sport. They put a widebody like a Z06 on it, have an option to purchase stripes (although not mandatory to purchase them) and offer it in any color currently available and call it a "Grand Sport". No limited production numbers either. GM said it will build this car for several years so it's certainly not a "limited production" car like the GS's were. It would have been better to call it a "C6W" for C6 Widebody.

The majority of the people buying this car will not purchase the stripes I bet. They want the widebody look of the Z06. We'll see as the orders come in.

Just my opinion as I have both the GS and a Z06.

The new GS has more changes than just the wide body - it gets the Z06 springs, roll bars and shocks and new wheels in the Z06 size. The 6-speed manual has different gearing than the standard Vette and the manual coupe gets the dry sump oiling system (convertible and auto coupe still use an oil pan.).

For me, that decision depends a lot on the price. I'm not looking for a track car, so a drop-top version with most of the good looks of the Z06 is very attractive to me. I only wish the Z52 option was available with the convertible. As if I could afford it anyway. :yesnod:

As with all things, "Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer choice." ;)

Here's a slightly cleaned up version of the blue 'n white themed '10 GS:

Haven't seen one yet. Will keep looking. But if you've seen a Z06, then you've seen the Grand Sport coupe version (plus the new side vents).

Hutch, not sure if it was cool to add a link from another site, but there's large pictures of the convertibles at the NCM. The blue doesn't look good, at least as far as GS Blue goes. I have a Power Point I can email you with some interesting stats that's from the museum if you like. If I could get the blue-white stripe hard top version I might wait a while and pass on the Z06 :yesnod:

No problem on links. Knowledge is power.

Jetstream Blue *is* an attractive color, but granted it is a far cry from our beloved Admiral Blue. If I could afford one of these, a repaint in '96 colors would be in order. It's only money, right? :yesnod:

I have the powerpoint file from the NCM which is simply data extracted from the official GM press release.

Maybe I was still half asleep when I saw the pictures, I do agree that JSB is a nice color, I guess being tired made me think the cars in these pictures were a bit lighter blue. My bad. Still I would prefer one in Admiral Blue with a white stripe. So, without further delay.....pictures are here http://www.digitalco...ad.php?t=120657

I think I'll stick with the 09 Z, I hear prices are going up on 2010's :yesnod:

Jason, I'm with you on this. I wish GM could come up with some new names that maybe someone 40 years down the road would want to build a car to pay homage to. But instead, GM's marketing dept wants to use the same name once again in order to try and boost sales (which GM surely needs) but in a different way. How many times does history have to repeat itself before GM makes some history of its own??

The truth really is that consumers want the widebody on the C6, most could care less about the Grand Sport name being on the car. At our Corvette Club meeting last night all of the members said GM should of just built the car with the widebody since they are doing it in any configuration and color, but leave the Grand Sport name off of it. No one could see a direct tie to either the '63 or the '96. Considering I'm the only one in the club with a GS, I found it interesting to listen to peoples comments.

I think it may be better recieved as a Stingray or Sting Ray. The gills on the side far better reflect the look of the mid years or the C3s IMO. The heavy GS logo on the side above the gills seems out of place to me also. I am curious how many people will order one of these and leave the stripe package off just so that they can get a wide body vert.....to the point of the members in your club.

The one thing I really don't like, the logo. I would have been 10x better to make it a fender badge. Oh well, picking up my Z tomorrow :yesnod:

I'm definitely a little disappointed in this being called a GS. It seems like just a marketing ploy and I don't like that it's not limited availability. I heard you can get it in automatic also. I know that some people (like my wife) have to have automatic vettes, but don't call it a GS. I also don't like that you can get it without the hash marks. I loved the hashmarks on the GS so much that I was one of those posers with red hash's on my black 96 lt4 car that I had before the GS. Now that I don't have the GS I'm just a wannabe like the GS GM is getting ready to make. :yesnod: ;)
