After dinner last Thursday evening a friend of mine called and told me there were storms approaching my area and that they were condusive to tornados. Well, as soon as I walked outside to take a look to the west, the wind picked up and it started raining. We put the dogs inside with and turned on the Weather on the internet. There was a supercell approaching and it was heading right towards us. We got our little portable handheld tv and flashlight and headed for the master bedroom closet with the dogs. The wind got stronger, much stronger, more rain and hail came pouring down. It lasted for about 30 minutes. I walked outside afterwards to find hail damage on both my wife and my daily drivers, large bushes plucked out of the ground, trees torn in half, and the worst of all.......the garage door to my shop (10'x10' door) totally imploded and lying on top of GS#807! I was near tears.....luckily it landed directly on the back window and I had the car cover on it so there was not even a scratch on the car. The back window took the hit without any issues. No cracks, breaks, anything. My shop, on the other hand, was very wet and stuff was strewn everywhere.
I spent all day Friday drying out the shop and cleaning up. Got a new garage door installed the same day. The garage door guy said he had never seen anything like it. We feel very lucky given how back it could have been.
Anyway, hug your wife, hug your dog, and go hug your car! You never know what can happen.

Wow, what a close call! Must have been very scary for you. Patti and I have been through a couple hurricanes so know very well how helpless you feel.
Sorry about the damage to your property but glad that you, Jessica, and #807 are OK! Whew!

Power was out at the house for 18 hours. We slept in the travel trailer with the generator and A/C running. A lot more comfortable than dark and hot in the house.I'm glad 807 was ok. it got pretty bad here also. we lost electricity for @ 6 hours and had trees down.
