My car has been in storage for the last 5 years. It has the original battery in it, which I have always kept on a Battery Tender. Recently, the Tender went "yellow"...indicating that the battery now only looks like a battery. I've been out of the loop on these cars for a while, so I'm wondering if there is a reproduction original-type battery available or if I'll have to stick some aftermarket conglomeration in there. So far, I've successfully kept the 525 completely original and would like to continue to do so, if possible. Any suggestions?

Definitely sounds like the battery has given up the ghost. You've done well to keep it this long.
There is a Tech Tip topic on 1996 Grand Sport battery replacements in the Members Only section of the GSR website so that would be a good place to start.
Of course, that leads to the question... why aren't you a GSR Member? It is our members which make the GSR such a great group and the perfect means to exchange information about these very special Corvettes.

Both you and your GS will be glad you did.

Thanks for the info! I see that you're in Orlando. What a coincidence...I'm the original owner of my GS, and I bought it from Mealy (sp?) in Orlando in the summer of '97 after a nation-wide search revealed it as the only remaining new GS in the country. I envy you your weather down there...if it was like that in Wisconsin, I might never have stored my car to begin with.

As far as I know, Canadian exports used the same AC-Delco battery as the US versions.
