Hi everyone,

I'm GS582, or better known to the non-GS crowd as Elaine Kemp from Weymouth, MA. GS582 is a convertible w/black interior. "The Diva" and I found each other in April 2002, and I sold my beloved "Lemon Peel", an '88 yellow Corvette convertible without blinking an eye for this GS gem!! I would have kept it also, but garage space in the Kemp household is at a premium with Hubby's Corvette, too! :) I really wanted a convertible with red interior but couldn't pass up this one with only 3200 miles on it at the time!

Alan and I met in February 1989 and discovered very quickly that we both love sports cars. We didn't buy our first Corvette until January 1992 and are now on our 5th, Alan's 2002 Electron Blue convertible. We say the two Vettes we currently have will be our last...but who knows? The '02 may go, but The Diva is here to stay, that's for sure!!

GS582 and I attend all of the judged Corvettes show across New England, as does Hubby and his '02. The GS is in mint condition, haven't done much to her but change the black wheels to chrome 5-spokes and just installed cross drilled and slotted rotors. Needless to say, I've kept the black wheels and original rotors, but really like the flash of the chrome! B)

Alan and I will be in Carlisle again this year, but without #582. The '02 has become our vehicle of choice for long drives B) We just may bring the GS to the 2006 Carlisle for the GS 10th anniversary, though, and be part of the GS parking group!

We hope to see many of you at the GS tent next month!!

Elaine

Hope to visit with you soon. Have followed your threads on other forums for a while and feel I know how you think. Loving the Grand Sport is easy to understand and loving to show it is one of the best parts of having one. Sorry you won't be bringing it to Carlisle but I understand. Glad to have you aboard the GSR

Looks very nice, welcome! Picked up any awards with it yet? Sounds like you do a good bit of showing! I've shown twice, picked up one 1st, but in a pretty limited category (modified corvette). Its hard to find many shows around here locally that have a decent category for the GS with all its insane engine mods  but that's alright with me, I love the car just how it is B) . Although I'm thinking some break upgrades might be in store down the road... "Catherine" is a little much to stop sometimes if I'm into it much at all.

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments and warm welcome! Actually, I've been around here for a while...just keeping a low profile, you might say! B)

The picture I attached was taken this past January at Boston's "World of Wheels" where it was on display for 4 days. Alan's '02 was also there along with 6 other Corvettes from our club. Great take, and we hope to do the same in 2005!

Yes, GS582 captures many trophies...always in 1st or 2nd place. Here in New England, the judged, Corvettes-only shows are really "show & shines" where cleanliness and condition are the primary keys to high points. I choose to put the GS in Super Street class where everything is inspected except for under the hood. I love to do the detailing but just don't have the time or inclination to do the engine!

I hope many of you will be at Carlisle this year. We always stop by the GS tent, with or without #582, to say hi!
