It may be hot now but before you know it, winter will be settling in once again and many of you will be reaching for your coat. If you have to be cold, you might as well LOOK cool while you're at it. With that in mind, I'm working with a leather coat supplier for a possible custom Grand Sport leather jacket.

I'm going to be the guinea pig here and order one for myself, or pehaps, the VetteVixen (Ms. Patti). If it turns out as nice as the samples I've seen, we'll open it up to a GSR Group Purchase. But I need YOUR help in designing it because I want it to be something totally unique, different from all the other jackets currently on the market.

Basic design elements I'm considering include a dark blue leather, with white stripes running down the right side, a GS or GS emblem over the left breast, red hashmarks on the left sleeve, and a GS, GS emblem, or Corvette lettering on the back. All this will be in inlaid leather, not embroidery. I know we could add "CORVETTE" lettering down the opposite sleeve or other doo dads, but I don't want it to look cluttered.

Not ready for a poll yet, but give me your thoughts on the following basic designs. The supplier I'm considering can literally do ANYTHING and best of, for a VERY reasonable price. And oh yeh, your choice of BLACK or RED lining, too!

Personally not for me. The NCM sells a black bomber jacket with just the GS emblem on the breast, and it looks great. Set up a GP on that, and let's talk.

We could do that easily enough, Brandt, but not through the NCM. I'm talking much less money here.

And I'm still going to order a blue one.

I think the blue leather would be very classy and I agree not to make the jacket too cluttered with insignias.

I personally like the 1st, on top, front view, with the GS emblem on the left breast and for the rear view, the 4th one down, with the C4 logo and GS emblem.
The red hashmarks you added on the left sleeve is a nice touch.

For the front I like the first view. For the rear both the one with the C4 emblem or the GS car picture look nice. Although if the leather is blue the inlaid GS car picture may blend in too much. Any ballpark estimate on pricing?

Hey, good ideas, folks. Thanks for the input.

Not even going to talk about price yet, but consider what nice, custom leather jackets cost elsewhere, and divide by 2 as a starter. That should be close.

Brandt, we'll do a GP eventually. At this point, I don't know if they ALL have to be identical anyway. We might be able to get different styles in the same GP.

Simpler is probably better, or at least classier, in some cases. But the owner of a cool car deserves a cool jacket, too.

Count me in for a couple of these, one for me and (of course) one for my navigator (wife). for the front I definitely prefer the off side stripe. Down the middle just doesn't quite get it. The hash marks are a must also. From there I like the idea of the car somewhere on the jacket and the C4 logo. The Grand Sport bar is also a must somewhere on the jacket. If you use the word Corvette I think it should be in the C4 font and not the earlier script. The idea of a GS jacket is something that I have been dreaming of and working on my own designs ever since I got my GS. This is definitely a winner!!

Great ideas so far. Here's mine: Wider centered white stripes on front and back (kind of in proportion to the car) hashmarks on left sleeve and the Corvette lettering embroidered on the back. Grand Sport embroidered on left breast. I guess in general make it look a bit more like the paint job on the car.

I like the top front view and like others have mentioned, I think the C4 Corvette font (like on the back of the car) with a GS emblem on the back of the jacket would be a great look.

Thanks for the inpupt, folks. Keep thinking on this and I'll do up a few more proposed designs based on your thoughts and then we'll set up a poll to see which are your favorites.
