Even though we've already exceeded our goal, we will continue to collect donations thru July 15th to give all those that wish to do so an opportunity to participate. Additional funds over and above our $2500 goal shall be used to purchase additional NCM Corvette Raffle Tickets to be given away in random drawings to GSR Members who contribute. Thank you again!
6/01/07 - Thanks to your tremendous support, we are upping the ante on the giveaway raffle tickets. In addition to a minimum of FIVE $100 Indy 500 Pace Car raffle tickets, we have purchased and will give away ONE $500 raffle ticket for a Ron Fellows Z06 plus ONE $250 raffle ticket for a 2007 Silver Coupe. We're also going to buy a number of the $10 tickets for a 2008 Victory Red Coupe. The NCM is drawing the winner on the Z06 raffle on June 6th so only those GSR Members that donate to our campaign with donations received by the GSR by midnight ET, June 5th will be eligible. The NCM is drawing the winner of the 2007 Silver Coupe on June 13th so the GSR donation deadline for that ticket chance is midnight ET, June 12th. All others who donate by July 15th will be eligible to win tickets for the Pace Car or 2008 red coupe. Good Luck!
6/06/07 - Congratulations to GSR Member Hank Engel, winner of a $500 raffle ticket for a Ron Fellows Z06. The NCM draws the winner of this Z06 at 2pm, June 6th. Good Luck, Hank!
6/07/07 - Well, unless Hank Engel changed his name and moved to New Jersey, he didn't win the Z06. But you other GSR Members who donate to this campaign still have a shot at winning a cool Corvette. Next up is a 2007 Silver Coupe. Donations are due to the GSR by midnight June 12th and the NCM draws the winning ticket a 2 pm, June 13th. Good Luck!
6/08/07 - Thanks to GSR Member generosity, we had enough extra $$$ left over to purchase 8 additional $100 raffle tickets for the Indy Pace Car Convertible. That means we'll be giving away one $250 ticket for a 2007 Silver Coupe, 13 $100 tickets for the Indy Pace Car, and a number of $10 tickets for a 2008 Victory Red Coupe. Good Luck!

Good luck to our raffle ticket winners and THANK YOU to all who participated in this campaign. Thanks to you, the GSR is now a LIFETIME CLUB MEMBER of the National Corvette Museum and we will donate a total of $4456.79 to the NCM. What a fantastic show of support.
The Background...
During our meeting at the recent Gathering event at the National Corvette Museum, one of the things we discussed was my long-time wish that the Grand Sport Registry could someday become a Lifetime Business/Club Member of the NCM. I was very pleased that the idea was enthusiastically supported by many of those in attendance, so I feel it is time we bring it up here for consideration and further discussion.
For those that don't know, the GSR is already a regular Business/Club Member of the NCM which I renew annually at a cost of $250. I have done this for the last 3 years as I felt it an important part of our public proclamation of our support for the Museum and its mission... "to celebrate the invention of the Corvette and preserve its past, present and future". No other organization does so much to keep our favorite pastime (for many of us, more like a lifestyle) not only alive and well, but thriving.
Here are some of the benefits of a Lifetime Business/Club Membership in the NCM:

- Club name on plaque displayed in Museum
- Prominent listing on the NCM Website
- Plaque stating lifetime membership for our club to display
- Free quarter page ad once a year in America's Sports Car (the NCM magazine)

Keep in mind that the NCM is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and is NOT funded by General Motors. Its doors are kept open solely through the generosity of its members and contributors. Every visit to the NCM is like coming home again. As Corvette enthusiasts, we all owe the Museum and its dedicated staff and volunteers our continued gratitude, thanks, and support.
The Challenge...
To that end, I propose we establish a fund drive with the goal of raising enough money to pay for the GSR to become a NCM LIFETIME Business/Club Member by July 15th, 2007. The regular cost for such a membership is $2500 but, because we are already a regular Business Member, we qualify for a $250 discount on the upgrade.
It is my hope that each member of the GSR, as the true Corvette enthusiasts that we are, will see the value in such a bold move and choose to support this venture by making a small donation. GSR paid membership currently stands at 339. If each member donated only $10, that would be well more than we need. Granted, that may be an altruistic expectation for most organizations, but the GSR is not like most other clubs. I've come to learn that our members are even more special than the unique cars we share a passion for.
To get us started, Patti and I will donate another $250 which means we only need to raise another $2000 to reach our goal... but let's have some fun and shoot for a bit extra... $2500.
The Fun Stuff...
OK, why make $2500 our goal when we only need 2 grand? How's this... for each GSR member that makes a donation, his/her name will be entered into a drawing for one of several free NCM raffle tickets for a brand new Corvette (6/1/07: see above for updated details). While an unlimited number (thousands) of tickets will be sold for the 2008 Victory Red coupe, odds for the other giveaway cars are great! Only 500 tickets are to be sold for the RF Z06, 500 for the Silver Coupe, and 2007 tickets for the Pace Car.
The following rules apply... (updated 6/1/07)
- Anyone may donate but the free raffle ticket drawing is open to GSR Members only.
- ONE winner will be drawn for the RFZ06 raffle ticket at midnight ET on June 5th.
- ONE winner will be drawn for the Silver Coupe raffle ticket at midnight ET on June 12th.
- FIVE (or more) winners will be drawn for the Pace Car raffle tickets at midnight ET on July 15th.
- MULTIPLE (as yet TBD) winners will be drawn for the 2008 Red Coupe raffle tickets at midnight ET on July 15th.
- Member donations must be received prior to the drawing times, above, to be eligible.
- Only one raffle ticket entry per member, regardless of the size or number of donations.
- Only one raffle ticket may be won per member.
- All donations received in excess of our goal shall be used to purchase additional NCM Corvette raffle tickets to be given away thru random drawings to GSR Members who donated to this campaign.
- Any monies remaining not used to purchase raffle tickets will be donated to the NCM as a cash gift from the GSR.
- Winners of the raffle ticket drawings need not be present to win. Winners will be notified via email or phone by the GSR within 24 hours of the drawing. The names of the winners will be posted to the GSR Email list and/or the GSR web site.

- All donations are equally appreciated but please, no puny donations of a buck or so just to get into the drawing.
- Decisons of the GSR and the NCM are final.
- The Skunkmaster and his immediate family are ineligible for the free raffle ticket drawing (rats!)
