Although our special GS Registration option has now expired you can still register thru the Carlisle
website at the link, above. At this late date your event credentials will not be mailed to you. You may pick them up when you arrive on site.
Note: This page will be updated with the latest info on the GSR's upcoming Grand Sport 25th Anniversary event to be held during Corvettes at Carlisle, 26-28 August 2021. Check back often for the latest info.
As per Carlisle Events, here is a list of all those currently registered for the GS 25th Anniversary Event. Non-GSR Members are shown at the bottom in red. Please encourage them to join! If you have registered prior to this latest update but your name does not appear, please contact Jodi Morrison at [email protected]. Please send any corrections to [email protected]. This list will be updated periodically.
Thursday, Aug 26th. Wine Bar opens at 5 pm, food around 6:30pm. Not a full meal but plenty of tasty bites, drink, door prizes, and fun and games for all. Free for GSR Members, $5 pp donation for non-member guests. Be sure to bring a chair unless you like to stand.
Sorry... but if you have not RSVP'ed by this late date please do not show up announced. That would not only be rude but extremely unfair to our hosts.
As you can imagine, planning, organizing and managing an event this large is more than Maureen "Mo" Waller (Cruise Director), Shawn Berkstresser (Asst Skunkmaster), and Patti (Skunkmistress) and I can handle by ourselves. To that end, we have asked for a handful of volunteers to assist in certain areas.
As of this writing we should have enough volunteers but please remain flexible and help out if you can when/if the need arises. THANK YOU!
Latest map showing the entire Carlisle Fairgrounds for the 2021 event. Enter the Fairgrounds from Gate 3 then turn right on Duke Boulevard to enter our Grand Sport Corral which is the large area marked with an "L". Detailed directions to the Fairgrounds may be found here: https://www.carlisleevents.com/events/directions
Thanks to Mo for putting together all the info you need about trailer parking at Carlisle. Many of you are towing your Grand Sports this year so please be sure you are signed up and paid for parking if you want it for your trailer.
It is too late to order shirts for delivery in time for Carlisle, but we will have a few extras available for sale at our tent at Carlisle. Additional shirts may still be ordered after the event.
Here's the latest schedule of GSR events and activities during Corvettes at Carlisle. Thanks to our Cruise Director, Maureen "Mo" Waller for putting this together!
One of the events planned for the 25th GS Anniversary at Carlisle is a run to Hershey Chocolate World, 101 Chocolate World Way, Hershey, PA. We will stage Thursday morning at 8:30am at the Carlisle Expo Center, 100 K St, (across from teh fairgrounds Gate 3 main entrance). Return on your own in time for our Meet 'n Greet Welcome Party around 6pm. Read the latest info here and RSVP to Maureen "Mo" Waller via email at [email protected].
For those Florida-based GSR Members joining Patti and I on the Amtrak Autotrain from Sanford, Florida to Lorton, Virginia and back again, here's some basic info which might be helpful to those who've never used the Autotrain before.
GSR's Special GS Display: as of 7/08/21
Many thanks to the following GSR Members who have kindly volunteered to put their cars in our special GS display during Corvettes at Carlisle:
John Heinricy, 1996 GS Coupe #001, Clarkston, MI
Lynne Layber, 1996 GS Convt #289, Venice, FL
Don Fiore, 1963 Duntov Motors GS Coupe Continuation, Lake Forest, IL
Mike Kambouroglos, 2012 GS Centennial Edition Coupe, Lancaster, PA
Sal Agosta 2017, GS Collector Edition Coupe #300, Edison, NJ
The display tent will be in the upper left (Northwest) corner of our GS Corral at the corner of Row IM and Duke Blvd, as shown in the event map. The GSR's Hospitality Tent will be just south of the display tent on row IL. That will serve as the GSR "Headquarters" for the weekend and offer some welcome shade and cold drinks for our members. Dispaly cars must arrive no later than 9am each day, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and may not be moved until departing the fairgrounds for the evening, no earlier than 5 pm or so each day. Display cars may be left under the tent at the Fairgrounds overnight as Carlisle provides security and we've never had a problem.
The GSR has reserved the entire eastern half of rows IM, IL, IK, and IJ for our GS Corral. Since we are anticipating a huge crowd and our corral has a max capacity of 184, we must restrict corral parking only to those Grand Sports with an "L" Fun Field parking pass sticker. The only exception will be on Thursday when we should have plenty of open spaces due to the GSR's road trip to Hershey that day. I expect we will fill our corral on Friday and Saturday, however, so we must be more restrictive on those days, at least until mid-late afternoon.
We plan for all 1996 C4 Grand Sports to park together along row IM. We're also reserving a section of Row IL for C7 Heritage Edition (blue w/white stripe) Grand Sports. Not for any kind of favoritism but for strictly to create a cool "Kodak Moment". We ask all other GS generations to park anywhere else in the corral. Members driving non-Grand Sports will not be able to park in our GS Corral this year due to limited space but should be able to find open Fun Field spots nearby.
Although our special GS Registration option has now expired but you can still register thru the Carlisle website at the link, above. Do so by midnight July 26th to save 10% on the FunField Registration and have your credentials mailed to you.
