  2. GSR Member 2022 1 Posted December 14, 2021 I am now down to one key fob for my 2017 GS. I have a fob from a 2015 Z51 that was destroyed. Does anyone know how to get a replacement fob or get the one from my 2015 reprogrammed? Thank you in advance.
  3. I purchased my 2012 Grand Sport last year.....great car but I really miss having a back-up camera. Would appreciate any recommendations on what back-up system works best and any installation companies in New Jersey. If possible, I would like to keep the original Nav display screen and radio. Many thanks, Paul
  4. Hello Has anyone repainted their rim barrels , after putting on new weights and nicks ,they need a repaint. Not sure what paint gm used. Thanks Jim
  5. Hello, I did a little research on Michelin's site. When you search by car, they don't seem to have any tires for a C4 GS. However, if you search by tire size there are some interesting results. I used the tire sizes listed on the GSR site. It *appears* Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 Tires are available as a set for coupes, and for the front of the convertibles. Unfortunately there is no listing on Michelin's site for the convertible's rear size of 285/40ZR17. Tire Size (Front) P275/40ZR-17 (coupe) P255/45ZR17 (convert.) Tire Size (Rear) P315/35ZR-17 (coupe) P285/40ZR17 (convert.) 6. Hey Rick, Really appreciate you sharing, that is definitely new news, not old. We haven't talked about this particular tire at all that I'm aware of. I found them on Summit Racing for less than $200 a tire (front) and $255 for the rear, this is an excellent price. They are special order, but what isn't these days. Thanks, Shawn
  7. Hi Rick, Thanks for sharing the info on those Mickey Thompson tires. I wasn't aware they had street tires in the '96 GS sizes. That's great news! We do have a Tech Tip on C4 Tires in the GSR Members Only section of the website at https://www.grandsportregistry.com/members/techtips/96_tires.htm but admittedly that article is pretty old now. Thanks! -Hutch-
  8. Hi all. I haven't been here in years, but found some tires and thought I would share. I searched the forum, and could not find anything about them. So I hope I am not posting something you all know. I know there are only a couple tires available for our cars. I have tried them both, and in my experiance, the Nittos flat spotted from sitting really easily, and permanently. And the Toyos are noisy as heck. While I was looking at tires for another car, I noticed that Mickey Thompson sells a set in our sizes, that are much more street oriented than the others. I bought a set, and like them. They are quiet enough, and sticky enough for me, and they look good in my opinion. Here is a link. https://www.mickeythompsontires.com/street-tires/street-comp Hope this helps! Rick Please delete if old news!
  9. Hi. Alan Dale here ( GS880 ) with a question a friend of mine has asked me to pose to our group. He has a C-6 Corvette and would like to find some "retro" style mag wheels for his car. Sizes are: 19x10 Rear; 18X8 & 1/2 Front. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look or where to buy? I wasn't too sure if "our forum" was the right place to ask this question; but, he requested me to do it. So, I have. Thank you for your time in considering my friends inquiry. I hope everyone is having a great day. Take care and all the best to you. Alan Dale....GS880
  10. Whoa! I just now noticed the "Grand Sport" tires. Freakin' awesome! 😎
  11. We're glad you chose this year to join us in Carlisle. The matching tires are a great touch.
  12. Congrats on the GS, Howard. Glad you could join us at Carlisle this year. Wasn't that a hoot? And hey... those blue LED's in the footwells look pretty cool! Cheers!
  13. Finally graduated to a Corvette, a 2018 C7 Grand Sport. After actually reading the manual the first week, then I did what most people do when they get something they have no idea what they bought (after the fact folks), I went on YouTube. It was a Wednesday, and this place I never heard of Carlisle PA was all over the "latest videos". I found this dude's video about how he sold is "Captain America" vette, and it was a bait and switch for Carlisle, turns out he was heading up to this "meca" of Corvettes. I had no idea what it was and a free weekend, so I dialed it into the nav on a Wednesday at 5PM after work here in Charleston SC and got the Entrance around 2AM. Slept at Will call and got my ticket to the fun field. I found a decent hotel close by that someone left early from and it was the best time I ever had with a car. I had no idea that owning a Corvette had this aspect. I waited a few days while there and eventually joined this GS Registry Club and I really like the communication and features of the membership. I waited 37 years to buy one, and don't know why I waited so long, the C7 is fabulous, and look forward to owning more! No heritage package but I hashmarked it for 80 bucks through Pleasant Details, Charleston SC https://1drv.ms/v/s!Ah-9Xdv8l0gkja5B0ljDWeRLOErVtA?e=TaRaF0

  15. My GS is a triple black 2010 convertible, LT3. A couple of years ago I removed the factory air intake system and installed a new K&N cold air intake system. Immediate performance improvement on the car. Last week I treated the car to a new exhaust system and custom tune. I purchased the Borla S-Type axel back exhaust system. The exhaust sound is wonderful; quite inside the car because of no resonance and great at the rear of the car. It definitely lets people know there's a performance car in the area. The 4 inch tips really make the rear of the car look better. I also had the car professionally tuned with the SCT-X4 tuner. I have a better performing car, more HP, more torque and a great sound from the Borla exhaust system. The legendary car racer, Bob Bondurant, used Borla exhaust systems on his race track Corvettes. He preferred the S-Type as stated in the Borla commercial.
  16. I am new to all this... just got my GS this summer and finding out that the factory tires are not real good in the rain. The tires have 16k on them and I need to replace them this winter while it's snowing and I cant drive it. I received a price from a local shop on Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 at $1764. From what I have seen, tire rack, west coast..... are out of stock or more than $1800 if they do have them. Does anyone out there have any experience on this subject?
